Albany is located in northwest Edmonton south of the Anthony Henday and 127 Street bounded by 167 Avenue. Construction of this popular area of the wetlands of the Palisades area started in 2009. The Albany neighbourhood is roughly 30 percent low-density housing and 70 percent medium density residential. You can also downsize into one of the low-rise condominium buildings in the area. Albany has many walking trails, ponds and is amenity rich with the Albany Market Square and New Castle Shopping centres that align 127 Street and 167 Avenue. Albany Market Square features Walmart, many financial institutions, health and beauty services, all the popular fast food restaurants and many brand name dining options. The still growing New Castle Shopping Centre has grocery stores, more restaurants and a gym. Residents of Albany can enjoy the nearby facilities of the YMCA located Castle Downs. There are many children's programs available including summer camps. The designated public schools for the area are Lorelei School for elementary, Mary Butterworth for junior high and senior high at Ross Sheppard. Take advantage of the hot summer days and spend time at the splash park in the nearby neighbourhood of Carlton Park.
The Albany area is located very close to St. Albert. You can quickly skip into the Campbell Business Park in St. Albert from 167 Avenue and 142 Street or out on Campbell Road. The Servus Credit Union Place has many different fitness classes, a track, 3 hockey rinks, and a water play centre.
The ring road of Anthony Henday drive makes this an ideal location to live but drive around to the southside in a flash. Access to highway 2 north is another great benefit to the Albany community. There is great access to public transportation with the bus routes along 167 Avenue, making the commute to downtown a breeze.
